Bus supervisor held with 5,800 Yaba tablets

CHATTOGRAM: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a supervisor of a passenger bus with 5,890 Yaba tablets from the city’s Colonel Hat area early Friday.

The RAB-men also seized the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Saintmartin Paribahan’ during the drive.

The arrestee was identified as Md Parvez Hossain, 31, son of Abdul Hamid of village Mijmiji Batanparra under Siddhirganj police station of Narayanganj district.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP-Media) Md Mashqur Rahman of the RAB-7, Chattogram said acting on a tip-off, they searched the Dhaka-bound bus on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in the Colonel Hat area at around 3:30am.

Some 2,000 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from the pocket of pant of the arrestee during the drive, he said.

Acting on his statement, 3,890 more Yaba tablets were also recovered from box of battery of the bus. The bus was also seized, said the RAB officer.

A case was filed accusing the supervisor with the concerned Akbar Shah police station in this connection, ASP Mashqur added.
