The government will supply reliable and uninterrupted power in Dhaka within three years.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid made the assurance on Wednesday night during an MoU signing ceremony between Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) and Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) of Thailand at a hotel in the capital.

“We are hopeful to supply reliable power in Dhaka Power Distribution areas within three years. We are taking project worth Tk US$ 1.3 billion for implementing it,” said the state minister.

DPDC Chairman Mohammed Shafiqullah, DPDC Managing Director Bikash Dewan and PEA Deputy Governor Wallop Kittiwiwat spoke on the occasion.

Nasul Hamid also said that the affordable, uninterrupted and reliable power supply is a main challenge so that there is no other alternative but digitisation for ensuring the reliable and uninterrupted power supply in Dhaka.

Under the MoU, DPDC Managing Director said that two organisations will share knowledge and ICT know-how for smooth functioning of power supply.

The PEA will support manpower training of the DPDC.
