Gano Forum lawmaker Mokabbir Khan on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to ease political tension through arranging a fresh parliamentary election with participation of all parties.

“Honourable Prime Minister, immediately arrange a poll which will not be questionable and will be acceptable to all,” he told parliament.

Two candidates of Gano Forum, an ally of the BNP-dominated Jatiya Oikya Front, were elected MP in the December 30 general election.

Gano Forum presidium member Mokabbir Khan took oath on April 2 and Sultan Mohammad Monsur Ahmed on March 7, defying the stance of the party.

Taking the floor on a point of order, Mokabbir said the nation expects a credible election from the premier as she is a daughter of the Father of the Nation.

He also said there has been an allegation that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is not getting proper treatment.

The lawmaker has urged the government to ensure proper treatment of Khaleda Zia.

Mokabbir also termed Gano Forum president Dr Kamal Hossain a great leader.

“The alliance led by Kamal Hossain is not an anti-liberation alliance; rather it is a pro-liberation ally.”

“There has been no room for the anti-liberation elements here,” Mokabbir said.

Mokabbir, who was elected MP for the first time, expressed dissatisfaction over looting of banks and siphoning of money abroad.

The lawmaker urged the government to take measures to address it.
