Turongomi’s Artistic Director Pooja Sengupta has been once again invited at the Dance Xchange: Philippine International Dance Festival.
The international dance festival will be held in Philippine from April 26-30.Pooja Sengupta will conduct a workshop on Dhamail: a traditional folk art form of Bangladesh. Last year Pooja Sengupta’s workshop on traditional Aroti Dance was attended by almost one thousand Filipino dance instructors.
A three-member team led by Pooja Sengupta left Dhaka last night to attend the festival.
The two other members of the team are—Susmita Lopa and Lopa Adhikari.
Turongomi is working with a motto of breaking circle for promoting Bangladesh’s signature dancing style in International mainstream arena and for the establishment of professionalism in Bangladeshi dance fraternity. Turongomi’s tour is supported by Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd, SMC’s brand Joya.
Pooja Sengupta is one of the most celebrated dance artists of her generation in Bangladesh. She completed her MS in Physics from Dhaka University and MA in Dance from Rabindra Bharathy University in 2013, availing ICCR scholarship of Government of India. Pooja is a trained Bharathanatyam dancer, she has been highly appreciated for her individuality, innovative style of dancing and creative ideas and research on Dance Education.
