Coastguards recover arms, ammo

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard in a drive recovered one pistol and three bullets from Nijhum Dwip area of Hatiya upazila in Noakhali district early Wednesday.

On receiving secret information that a gang of local ‘robbers’ known as Giash Uddin Bahini took position in the area, a coastguard team conducted the raid at around 2.00am, said a press release.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, members of the gang managed to flee, leaving their arms behind.

The seized arms and bullets were handed over to the local police station.
