A three-day fair on medical equipment and services will begin on May 2 to showcase the latest clinical technologies and practices for the healthcare sector at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the city.

CEMS Bangladesh in association with CEMS Global USA will organize the 12th edition of Meditex Bangladesh 2019, the biggest exhibition on medical, clinical and healthcare industry in the country.

Two more exhibitions — the 4th International Health Tourism Expo and 5th Bangladesh clinical Lab Expo 2019 — will also be held simultaneously, Meherun N Islam, president and group managing director of CEMS Global informed at a press conference at the Economic Reporters’ Forum in the capital on Wednesday.

“The three-day exposition will be a one-stop platform to showcase the latest developments and emerging technologies from home and abroad,” she said.

The exhibition will feature new medical devices and equipment, surgical instruments, dental equipment, diagnostic equipment and hospital equipment and supplies from 120 companies from Bangladesh, India, Thailand, China, the US, France, Australia, Germany, Denmark, Taiwan, Turkey, and Korea.

Hospitals and healthcare providers from India, Malaysia, Sweden, Singapore and Thailand will exhibit their services and latest developments, said the organizer in a statement.

The statement says Bangladesh has a large population of more than 180 million and their purchasing power is increasing thanks to the country’s growing economy. Therefore, Bangladesh has great opportunities for investment in various medical sectors, healthcare companies and professionals in the areas of medical training, ambulance services, retirement homes, medical equipment supplies, and rural health services.

“The Meditex Bangladesh will be a perfect business-to-business (B2B) platform for the entire medical and healthcare sector of Bangladesh.”

During the exposition, three seminars will be organized on: the role of physiotherapy in prevention and management of disability; infertility in men and women — causes and treatment; and control and prevention of thyroid disease and thyroid cancer.

The Meditex Bangladesh International Expo is supported by Chennai Fertility Center as silver sponsor and will be organized in partnership with broadcast partner Independent, media partners The Daily Star and the Samakal, radio partner Radio Today 89.6, magazine partners Fintech and ICE Business Times, media monitoring partner Ryans Archive, hospitality partner At Earth BD, creative partner Market Edge, and IT partner AamarTech.

State minister for health Murad Hasan is expected to inaugurate the expos, which will be open to visitors from 10.30am to 8.30pm.

Azad Khan, CEO of Chennai Fertility Center Bangladesh, SS Sarwar, group CEO of CEMS Global, Tanveer Qamrul, executive director of CEMS Global, and Noyem Sharif, head of marketing and communications of CEMS Global, were present at the media briefing.
