Around 40 people, including two police officers, have been interrogated in connection with the deadly arson attack on madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

The police officers are SM Jahangir Alam Sarkar, superintendent of police in Feni, and Moazzem Hossain, the then officer-in-charge of Sonagazi model police station.

The investigation committee formed by the Police Headquarters interrogated them to find out the alleged negligence of police duties.

Sources said the committee quizzed the police officers, the madrasah administration and others about the girl’s sexual harassment and murder.

After the removal of the OC, he was kept at the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) headquarters in Uttara, another source said.

Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general at the police headquarters, said: “An investigation is going on. Primary data has been collected. A report will be submitted soon in this regard.”

He also said: “If the report of negligence or crime is found in the duty of any police member, departmental action will be taken against them.

“If their crime is criminal, a case will be filed under the existing law.”
