Safuda sued for ‘defaming’ holy Quran

A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police to investigate a case filed against Safat Ullah alias Safuda on charges of defaming the holy Quran on facebook live.

Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge Ash-Shams Jaglul Hussein passed the order after recording statements of the plaintiff.

The court also asked the CTTC unit to submit a report by May 15 after investigating the incidents properly.

According to the case statement, on April 9, the plaintiff found expatriate Safuda made decretory remarks on facebook live regarding the holy Quran.

Earlier, in the morning, Advocate Md Alim Al Raji filed the case accusing Safat Ullah alias Safuda under the Digital Security Act with Cyber Tribunal (Bangladesh) in Dhaka.
