Emphasis laid on innovation to cope with fast-moving world

Chittagong University (CU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury laid emphasis on innovation to cope with the fast-moving technology-based world.

The science-oriented skill is a must in the country to keep pace with the world, he said.

The VC said these while addressing as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the first-ever ‘Chattogram Science Carnival -2019’ on Tuesday.

Chittagong University Scientific Society organised the festival at CU Social Science faculty auditorium on the university campus.

CU Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shirneen Akhter was special guest at the programme while Brac University former VC Professor Dr Ainun Nishad, CU Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology department Founding Chairman Professor Dr Mohammad Al Forkan and Associate Professor Dr Dr Laila Khaleda addressed it among others.

Addressing the ceremony, the CU VC Professor Iftekhar said the skilled and science-loving young generation of a country are the main driving forces of development and advancement.

People of the country have been getting the benefit of the government initiatives taken for introducing the modern and science-oriented standard education, he said.

Every educational institution of the country has now been producing the technology-based skilled manpower, the VC said.  Many initiatives taken by the CU authority in this regard are also being implemented while allocation in research has been increased and new institutions introduced, he added.

CU Scientific Society Coordinator Md Mojahid Ahmed presided over the inaugural ceremony while students and teachers of different departments also attended it.

Students from 27 universities across the country and some schools in Chattogram displayed their innovated projects at the festival.
