University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan on Tuesday said the proposed HEAT (Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation) project will upgrade tertiary education, enhance connectivity and create women leadership.
The UGC chairman came up with the remarks while addressing with the visiting Afghanistan delegation on HEAT project at UGC office.World Bank, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are expected to finance the five-year long HEAT project. The first-ever regional project’s aim is to improve national and regional bodies involved in higher education and research. UGC will be the implementing agency of the project once finalized.
Addressing the meeting, the leader of visiting delegation, Prof Hamidullah Farooqui, Chancellor of Kabul University, said it is a major challenge for his country to upgrade higher education. UGC members Prof Dr Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Prof Dr Dil Afroza Begum, secretary Dr Md Khaled, World Bank Senior Operations Officer Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman were also present.
