Failure to arrest rape accused

MOULVIBAZAR: A show-cause notice has been served on the inspector (Investigation) of Sreemangal Police Station while a sub-inspector has been closed for their negligence to arrest the accused in a case filed over rape of a Class-VI girl on April 16, reports UNB.

Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shahjalal took the action against Inspector Sohel Rana and SI Delwar Hossain, also the investigation officer of the case, on Sunday as they did not take proper step even after the filing of the case.

On April 16, a teenage boy of Beltali village in Sreemangal upazila, reportedly raped the girl when she was alone at her house.

Two days after the incident, victim’s father filed a case in this regard.

Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion-9 members, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Quamruzzaman, on Saturday arrested the accused from Sarkar Bazar area and handed him over to police.

The victim was now undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital.
