BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan on Saturday said confusion is being created about the release of party Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.

He said that his party demands unconditional release of Khaleda Zia.

The BNP leader came up with the statements addressing a human chain in front of the National Press Club in the capital.

He claimed that Khaleda Zia is not getting bail in ‘bailable case’.

About taking the oath of office by the BNP lawmakers-elect, Nazrul Islam Khan said the party will decide whether the lawmakers-elect will swear oath or not.

“The lawmakers-elect have been asked not to go to parliament without party’s decision.

The party didn’t take any decision yet in this regard,” he said.

The BNP leader further said they are making effort to spread movement across the country demanding release of Khaleda Zia from jail.

“At one stage, people of the entire country will take to street while this autocratic government won’t be able to stop the movement,” he added.

Addressing a protest meeting arranged by Nagorik Odhikar Andolon at the National Press Club, another standing committee member Amir Khashru Mahmud Chowdhury said Khaleda Zia is supposed to get bail.

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference at the party’s Naya Paltan central office on Saturday, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the order of freezing bank accounts of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zobaida Rahman were issued as per the government’s directives.

“The BNP is gradually being well-organised under the leadership of Tarique Rahman and the government is now frightened. So the government has brought a baseless allegation against Tarique Rahman to achieve their political gains,” he added.
