The five-day ‘National Health Service Week 2019’ was concluded with various programmes across the country on Saturday.

The Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque concluded the health service week through a closing programme at the auditorium of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in the capital.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the ‘National Health Service Week 2019’ at a function at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital on April 16.

The premier, in her inaugural speech, called upon people concerned for mainstreaming the traditional medicine through a renewed focus on the age-old indigenous healthcare system alongside the conventional drugs.

The theme of the Week of this year is ‘Protecting the right to health service was the promise of Sheikh Hasina’ (Sasthyo Sheba Odhikar, Sheikh Hasinar Angikar). The National Health Service Week was observed for the first time in the country.

Marking the week, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) organised a discussion on “Ethics in Health Service” around 4 pm at its auditorium in city’s Shahbagh area on Wednesday.

A colourful procession was also taken out from Central Shaheed Minar that ended at Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) on Wednesday.
