Legends of Rupganj will take on Dhaka Abahani Ltd in the most important match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2018-2019 season at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground 4 in Savar today.

Rupganj coach and former national star cricketer Aftab Ahmed is on the cusp of yet another milestone as he can reach the rare milestone of clinching the title in their first stint as coach. Despite this being his maiden season at the apex cricket league of the nation, Aftab appeared calm and confident which seems to instill an environment of determination in Legends’ dressing room.

“Abahani are undoubtedly a strong opponent. But if you consider our performance so far in the league, we have been playing sensational cricket so far. I don’t think about my opponents, I only think about how we carry on with our brand of cricket in the field. Hopefully, if we can continue with our way of playing cricket then I don’t think it will be tough for us,” said Aftab.

Despite the match being an important one, it is scheduled to be held in Savar which seemed to stir controversy as it could have been held in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital.

“When we came into Super-League as the top-ranked team I hoped that we hoped that we will get more matches in Mirpur but its all-right we will have to play anywhere CCDM tells us to,” said Aftab.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Abahani batsman Mohammad Mithun also urged his fellow cricketers to hold on to their nerve and not sway over with over-confidence.

“We are stronger side on papers. But at the end of the day, the performance is the main thing. Everybody will count it. We have to play better cricket. We have to play our usual cricket. We believe that if we can play our usual game we will beat them,” said Mithun

Mithun was also wary of Legends’ core of domestic players who have been instrumental in their success story so far.

“Their players are all in-form. They played good cricket. They played good cricket throughout the tournament. It’s important to perform. Despite having good cricketers in the team if they don’t perform it’ll not bring any benefit for the team. We are yet to play our best cricket. Hopefully we will play our best cricket tomorrow (today),”

The encounter seemed to have created some suspense as both the teams have been performed exceedingly well in the league so far. Mithun also enjoyed the intensity of playing against a top opponent.

“The feeling of playing against a good side is different. Intensity is good thing when it comes to playing against a top side. Players feel an urge to play better cricket. All the players remain alert. When a player remains sincere, he can give his best,” said Mithun.

In the other matches of the day, Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will take on Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club Ltd while Prime Bank Cricket Club will face Mohammedan Sporting Club.
