Students take oath to build non-communal Bangladesh

GAIBANDHA: Students of eight schools located at Indigenous prone area of six unions under Gobindaganj upazila here took oath on Mahmud Bag Islamia High School ground of the upazila on Thursday to build non-communal and humanitarian Bangladesh, reports BSS.

Abalamban, a local voluntary organisation, arranged the function with the financial support of UNDP-Human Rights Programme. Earlier, a discussion was also held with chairman of school managing committee Zobayer Hasan M. Shafique Ahmed in the chair.

President of Rangpur divisional Umpire Association Waziur Rahman Raphel, president of Sahebganj-Bagdafarm Bhumi Uddhar Sangram Committee Philimon Baske, agriculturist Sadequl Islam, human rights works Anjali Rani Devi, executive director of Abalamban Probir Chakrabartee, project coordinator Srizol Tigya, head teacher Abdus Samad, and aboriginal leader British Sharen addressed the function, among others.

The speakers in their speeches said the students would learn developing human qualities side by side with doing protest against disparity and unfair activities like drug taking, eve teasing, militancy and terrorism from the student life through holding the programme.

The students would also learn how to respect the aged persons and love the juniors of the society to build a happy and prosperous country and take it towards desired development in the spirit of the Liberation War, they also said.
