DCCI, Benapole Custom House hold discussion

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Benapole Custom House jointly organised a discussion meeting on "Simplification of Export and Import through Benapole Land Port" at Benapole Custom House Office in Benapole recently. Commissioner of Benapole Custom House Mohammad Belal Hossain was present as Chief Guest and Vice President of DCCI Imran Ahmed was present as special guest. Additional Commissioner of Benapole Port Mohammad Zakir Hossain was also present, said a press release.

An 11-member delegation from DCCI participated in this discussion meeting to discuss existing problems of Benapole port in terms of export and import. Benapole C&F Association and businessmen who use the port were present on the occasion.

DCCI Vice President Imran Ahmed said that at present the bilateral trade between Bangladesh and India is US $ 9.4 billion. Benapole port is mostly used for export and import activities between these two neighbouring countries.

In 2017-18 Taka 4872.72 crore revenue collected from Benapole port, he said. He also said that at present the capacity of Benapole port is 40 thousand metric ton but it handles about 1.5 to 2 lakh metric tons of goods.
