A two-day international conference on Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) kicks off in Dhaka on Sunday vowing to explore local potentials for the growing outsourcing market globally, officials said Thursday.
The BPO is a subset of outsourcing that involves contracting the operations and responsibilities for a particular business process to a third-party service provider.Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed is schedule to inaugurate the two-day BPO Summit as chief guest at Pan Pacific Sonargaon in the capital on Sunday.
Department of Information and Communication Technology (DoICT) is organizing the fourth edition of the summit in association with Bangladesh Association of Call Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) of its kind where over fifty local and international experts will share the latest development in BPO sector in 13 sessions.
ICT Division Secretary Zeaul Alam shared about the conference at press brief, with BACCO President Wahid Sharif, DoICT Director General Arshad Hossain and BACCO General Secretary Towhid Hossain present on the occasion.
Secretary Zeaul Alam said the government has been working together with the private sector to reach the fruits of technology among the people for last one decade.
“Though the BPO is an emerging sector, Bangladeshi firms have proved their excellence in service globally. Such kind of summit will help to share knowledge among all stakeholders as outsourcing is also a magic tool for employment,” Zeaul Alam added.
BACCO General President Wahid Sharif said BPO creates new opportunities for youths as it will create 1, 00,000 new employments in the country from the sector within the next two years.BACCO General Secretary Towhid Hossain termed the conference an unique platform for all to learn about an emerging sector driven by knowledge economy.
BACCO Senior Vice President Abul Khair and Joint General Secretary Mohammad Aminul Hoque were also present on the occasion.
