Job fair for youths held in Cox’s Bazar

COX’S BAZAR: A youth fair was organised with a view to creating job opportunity for unemployed persons at Ukhia upazila in the district on Monday.

Non-Government Organisation ‘United Purpose’ in association with International Organisation for Migration (IOM) organised the fair under a project titled ‘Strengthening harmony between locals and displaced Rohingyas’ on the premises of Ukhia High School in the morning.

Ukhia Upazila Chairman Principal Hamidul Hoque Chowdhury was the chief guest at the programme presided over by the NGO Country Director Sri Ramappa Gonchikara.

The Upazila Assistant Commissioner (AC-Land) Fakhrul Islam, Rajapalong Union Parishad Chairman Jahangir Kabir Chowdhury, IOM Programme Manager Agenta Anthony and Livelihood Programme Manager Rahol Pandita also attended the programme among others.

Different initiatives have been taken to increase skill of locals in the field of job under the project being implemented by the NGO since the last year.

Some 250 farmers were trained up about life and livelihood and each of them was donated Tk 30,000.

Besides, a five-day training workshop on information and communication technology (ICT) was also organised for local educated youths under the project.

The fair was featured with a total of 18 stalls.
