Bangladesh wants Messi’s Argentina in Bangabandhu’s birth centennial merriment

Bangladesh wants to get Argentine football team to play a match in Dhaka for the centennial birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 2021.

The government will celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation as Mujib Barsha or Mujib Year through yearlong programmes beginning on Mar 17 in 2020.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam has expressed his interest in bringing the Argentina national football team to Bangladesh in 2021. He expressed his interest to the new non-resident Argentine ambassador Daniel Chuburu (based in New Delhi) when the latter paid a visit on Thursday, said a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The discussion took place as part of talk regarding cooperation in culture, sports as well as business opportunities between the two countries.

Bangladesh is looking forward to receiving Argentine football team in Dhaka in 2021, Shahriar said.
