BENAPOLE: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued 17 Bangladeshis while they were being trafficked from India to Bangladesh through Gatipara frontier in Benapole port police station on Friday morning.

Salim Reja, commanding officer of 49 BGB, said on secret information, a BGB team raided the Gatipara Border and rescued 11 women and 6 men from the border area in the morning.

The victims hail from different areas of Jashore and Narail districts. The traffickers, however, managed to flee, sensing the presence of the paramilitary troops.

The BGB men later handed them over to Benapole Port Police Station, said the commanding officer.
