Mirza Faisal Amin, younger brother of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, on Tuesday praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for carrying out massive development activities across the country.

Mirza Amin, also the mayor of Thakurgaon municipality, came up with words of praise for the premier while inaugurating the repair work of two-kilometre road.

“I thank the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who has accepted our demands for the development of the municipality,” Amin, also the general secretary of Thakurgaon district BNP, said.

The mayor said being the mayor, he has failed to carry out development work despite his efforts in the last three years.

“The demands for development of the municipality were placed before the premier who went there just before the 11th parliamentary polls. We’ve started getting the outcome,” he said.

The BNP leader hopes that the trend of development will continue in the future too.

“Now I am the mayor….The party is not a factor here rather development is the key thing,” he said.

Amin was elected mayor in 2016, defeating Awami League’s Tahmina Akhter Molla.

The mayor said some projects involving Tk 50 crore had been submitted for the development of the town.

He urged the local lawmaker Ramesh Chandra Sen to put in his best efforts to get the allocation for the municipality.

The mayor also expressed the hope that Thakurgaon municipality will become a model municipality and the sadar upazila will be a model upazila.”
