Abducted government employee rescued

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members, in a drive, rescued a government employee from Sabujbagh area in the capital on Sunday and arrested a kidnapper engaged in the abduction.

The rescued government employee was Md Akram Hossain, 40.

Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, senior assistant director of RAB’s legal and media wing, said: “Akram Hossain, a resident of Demra area, was abducted on Saturday. The gang members demanded Tk 2 lakh as ransom from the family members of Akram.”

Later, family members sent Tk 50,000 through bKash and informed the matter to RAB.

The elite force conducted a drive in Sabujbagh area, rescued the abducted Akram and arrested the member of the gang.

The arrestee was identified as Sajjad Hossain Antar, 25, hailed from Daudkandi in Cumilla.

RAB official said during the drive other members of the gang managed to flee from the house. RAB members tried to nab the members of the gang.

A case was logged in this connection.

Meanwhile, three schoolgirls who went missing from Bianibazar in Sylhet were rescued from the capital on Monday with the help of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, reports UNB.

Police arrested two people, said Aboni Shankar Kar, officer-in-charge of Bianibazar Police Station.

On Saturday, the trio went missing from Dighalbag and Dheungar areas of the upazila.
