Fire breaks out at Raozan Thermal Power Plant

CHATTOGRAM: A fire broke out at the Thermal Power Plant in Raozan upazila in the district on Monday night.

However, the members of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) department brought the fire under control after around one-hour efforts.

The FSCD, Chattogram Assistant Director Jasim Uddin said that a fire broke out from leakage of lubricant at Turbine section of one unit of the 420MW-capacity power plant at around 8:00pm.

On information, four fire fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 8:40pm, he said.

When contacted, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Southern Zone (Chattogram) Chief Engineer Prabir Kumar Sen told the daily sun that the fire was brought under control immediately.

Engineers were working to fix the problem, he said.

Power supply to Raozan and adjoining areas will be restored after fixing the problem, added the chief engineer.
