Seed, fertiliser distribution begins in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA: Seed and fertilisers distribution to the farmers of Sadar upazila in the district began on Sunday afternoon under Aus incentive programme of the government, reports BSS.

An inaugural session organised by Sadar upazila agriculture office of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) here was also held on its premises on Sunday with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Uttam Kumar Roy in the chair.

District training officer of DAE Showkat Osman addressed the function as the chief guest and additional deputy director Abul Kalam Azad and president of upazila Awami League Rezaul Karim Reza were present at the event as the special guests while upazila agriculture extension officer Mosarrof Hossain was the moderator.

Earlier, upazila agriculture officer Al Imran delivered a welcome speech and said the objective of the seed and fertilizers distribution is to inspire the farmers to boost production of Aus paddy to enhance the country’s total production in few cost to ensure food security.

The speakers in their speeches urged the farmers to farm Aus paddy on their land properly during the current Kharif-1 season utilizing the seed and fertilizers.

Later, they formally inaugurated the seed and fertilizers distribution activity to the farmers of the upazila.

On the inaugural day, 75 farmers of 1,245 got seed and fertilizers from the government through the upazila agriculture office.

Each of the farmers received 5 kgs of seed of BRRI Dhan 45, 15 kgs of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 10 kgs of Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilizers.

A large number of people including farmers, sub assistant agriculture officers, public representatives, political leaders and journalists were present on the occasion.
