CHATTOGRAM: A ‘big brother’ was shot to death while went to settle a dispute over love affair in the city’s Bakolia area on Saturday night.

The deceased identified as Lokman Hossain, 35, a resident of Pashushala area at Badsha Mian Road in the city.

Lokman used to run a cooling-corner in the Pashushala area.

Sources said intermediate-level student Anik, a resident of Khalparr area under Bakolia Police Station, had a love affair with a girl of class-IX. 

The girl developed love affair with another boy named Shraban, resident of the Goal Pahar area, recently and started avoiding Anik.  

Anik and his fellows detained Sharban’s friend Joy when he went to the Khalparr area on Saturday night.

On information, Lokman, a ‘big brother’ of Shraban and Joy, rushed to the spot with five others ridding three motorbikes.

At one stage of altercation between the groups, one Saifullah, ‘big brother’ of Anik, allegedly shot Lokman from rooftop of a building leaving him injured with bullet.

He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where physicians declared him dead around 12:40 am, said ASI Alauddin Talukdar of the hospital police outpost.
