World Health Day observed in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA: World Health Day-2019 was celebrated in the district as elsewhere in the country and the globe on Sunday with a call to realising the people’s rights to the highest possible level of health services, reports BSS.

This year’s theme of the day is “Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for Primary Health Care (PHC) with a focus on equity and solidarity”.

In the morning, a grand rally led by deputy commissioner (DC) M Abdul Matin was brought out from the premises of civil surgeon (CS) office and ended in front of Zilla Shilpakala Academy (ZSA) after parading the main roads of the town.

Later, a discussion meeting was also held at the auditorium of the ZSA with acting CS Dr ABM Abu Hanif in the chair.

DC M Abdul Matin addressed the meeting as the chief guest and additional superintendent of police Rahaat Gowhary, acting superintendent of Gaibandha Sadar Hospital Dr AKM Asaduzzaman, general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, Abu Bakar Siddique, president of Bangladesh Medical Association, district unit, Dr Shahiduzzaman Harun were present at the event as special guests.

The speakers emphasised the need for providing medical services to the doorsteps of the people and in this context; they urged the physicians to be more serious and cordial to end this.
