Law Minister Anisul Huq alleged that former chief justice SK Sinha plotted to oust the Awami League government in a judicial coup.

He said SK Sinha tried to serve the purpose of a political quarter but failed in his attempt.

“Former chief justice SK Sinha had an intention to topple the government through a judicial coup. We resisted it. Two and a half years have passed since the attempt. Many development projects were interrupted due to him,” he said.

The law minister was addressing a meeting at his ministry in the city on Tuesday.

Speaking about the importance of the legislative wing, he said the department plays an important role in drafting any law and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina rightly created the wing.

The nation had to wait till 2009 to have the wing as the erstwhile military regimes failed to realize its necessity, he opined.

He said that Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working to build Sonar Bangla (golden Bangladesh) as envisaged by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
