Quader likely to be discharged on Friday

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, who is undergoing treatment in Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore, may be discharged on Friday.

Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, underwent a bypass surgery on March 20.

“He is undergoing treatment at a cabin and hi health condition is much better now,” Abu Naser, deputy chief information officer at the road transport ministry, told the daily sun on Tuesday.

“The minister can now talk to physicians and relatives normally and walk without anyone’s help,” he said.

“He (Quader) will be taken to a rented house there wherefrom he will receive treatment,” a high official at the ministry said.

A photograph of Obaidul Quader went viral on Monday. It shows that Quader is sitting with two persons.

Director of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Professor Dr Abu Naser Rizvi was staying with Quader in Singapore.

Quader’s wife Isratunnesa Quader is accompanying him at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.

On March 26, Obaidul Quader was moved to a cabin from the intensive care unit of Mount Elizabeth Hospital after his condition improved.

Earlier on March 3, Quader was admitted to BSMMU with breathing problems and diagnosed with three blocks in the heart.
