STEP project to close

Technical institute’s teachers have faced uncertainty in career as a world bank-funded STEP project is going to end this year.

Some 876 teachers at 49 institutes were requited under skills and training enhancement project (STEP) which is scheduled to end in June this year.

Bangladesh Polytechnic Teachers Federation (BPTF) leaders also urged the government for permanent recruitment of the teachers while addressing a seminar at IBEB Bhaban in the capital on Friday.

At the function, IDEB President AKMA Hamid said: ‘The job uncertainty of skilled teachers is unacceptable when the country is moving forward in pace of development. The government should rethink about the academics who contribute for skilled workforces.

IDEB General Secretary Shamsur Rahman, BPTF President Mohammad Salauddin and right activists Hafiz Ahmed Siddiqui, Khabir Hossain also spoke on the occasion.
