Call for improving child labour condition in dried fish sector

Speakers at a workshop called for including child labour in dried fish sector in the list of hazardous forms of child labour.

They were addressing a programme entitled ‘Sharing Workshop on Awareness Raising with Government Key Stakeholders’ at Bangladesh Shishu Academy in the capital on Sunday, said a press release.

They also call to take necessary steps to improve child labour condition in the dried fish sector. Children working in dried fish sector as child labour, mainly located in Cox’s Bazar, is considered as one of the worst forms of child labour, they said.

Supported by Winrock International and US Department of Labour, INCIDIN Bangladesh, a development organisation, arranged the programme.

Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Gaziuddin Mohammad Munir chaired the programme while Director of Bangladesh Shishu Academy AnjirLiton attended as special guest.

Executive Director of INCIDIN AK Masud Ali moderated the programme.

Manager (policy support) of INCIDIN Advocate Rafiqual Islam Khan and Project Director of CLIMB, Winrock International AHM Zaman Khan presented separate keynote papers.

Among others, representatives of different government and non-goverenment organisations were present in it.
