Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) authorities on Monday demolished three multi-storied buildings which were illegally built on the banks of the Turag close to Kaundia ghat in the capital’s Mirpur.

Law enforcers assisted BIWTA in conducting the eviction drive.

Five days ago, BIWTA pulled down 185 illegal structures stretching an area from Mirpur’s Zahurabad to Palpara.

BIWTA executive magistrate Mostafizur Rahman led the drive along the banks of the Turag with the help of local administration and relevant organisations.

During the drive, one three-storied building, 11 two-storied buildings, 23 single-storied buildings, 38 semi-pucca houses and 112 tin-shed houses were demolished.
