Two held with 23,620 Yaba pills in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two drug peddlers with 23,620 Yaba tablets from the city’s Nimtala Biswa Road area on Sunday early hours.

The arrestees were identified as Sohel, 28, son of Ibrahim Hossain of Narayanganj, and Md Selim alias Hossain, 35, son of Md Abdullah of Cumilla district.

Rab-7 Assistant Director (Media) Md Mashkur Rahman said on information of smuggling of Yaba tablet, a team of the elite force set a check-post in Nimtala Biswa Road area around 4:30 am.

They signalled a Dhaka-bound truck from Cox’s Bazar for its suspicious movement at the check-post.

But, Sohel and Selim tried to flee leaving the truck beside road at that time, he said.

The Rab-men caught them after a chase and later recovered 23,620 Yaba pills kept tactfully at different parts of the vehicle, said the Rab official.

The arrestees in the interrogation admitted that they had been collecting the drug from the bordering areas of Cox’s Bazar and transporting to different parts of the country through the truck in the name of carrying goods for long.
