Some lawmakers-elect from BNP-dominated Jatiya Oikya Front (JOF) may take oath in the 11th parliament.
“Some lawmakers-elect from BNP-dominated Jatiy Oikya Front may take oath in the 11th parliament soon,” said Sultan Mohammad Mansur, who took oath as an MP defying the decision of his party, Gano Forum.He was speaking after paying tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj on Friday.
He paid homage to the Father of the Nation by placing wreath at the mausoleum and offered ‘doa’ (prayer) seeking salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and his slain family members.
Sultan Mansur was elected an MP from Moulvibazar-2 constituency as a candidate of Gano Forum using ‘sheaf of paddy’, the electoral symbol of BNP.
While talking to journalists, he said that he had gone to Tungipara on Thursday evening and stayed there overnight.
On March 7, Sultan Mansur was sworn in as an MP, prompting Gano Forum to expel him from the party.
The party accused the Moulivibazar-2 MP of committing acts devoid of parliamentary norms and morality by taking oath violating its decision.BNP along with Gano Forum and some other parties joined the 11th parliamentary elections on December 30 forming an alliance titled JOF. BNP bagged six seats while Gano Forum two in the general election.
