Ensure workers’ healthcare for higher productivity, urge experts

Poor quality health services are holding back the progress, said experts at a round table meeting highlighting the urgency for ensuring proper healthcare services for workers to increase their productivity.

Experts and industrialists, who attended the conference, also shed light on food habit of workers while addressing a meeting on state of healthcare of workers at Lakeshore Dhaka recently, said a news release on Thursday.

Top officials of 50 companies and brands attended the round table focusing more on the changing paradigm of the country’s economy and put emphasis especially on workers’ healthcare.

United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) organised the meeting tiled “Adequate Nutrition for workers – Economic and Social Benefits of Fortified Rice” in association with Social Responsibility (SR) Asia Bangladesh.

Food Ministry Additional Secretary Sarkar Abul Kalam Azad was the chief guest while SR Asia Bangladesh Director Mahfuzul Haque presided over the meeting.
