PM presents laptops to IRO gold medalists

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presented laptops to the students who won gold medals for the country at International Robot Olympiad (IRO).

ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak handed over the token of appreciation from the premier at a function at Channel i office in the capital’s Tejgaon recently, said a news release of Dhaka University on Wednesday.

Bangladesh Team won one gold medal, two highly-commended medals and one technical medal in the 20th IRO held in Philippines from December 15-19.

State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak promised to give laptops to the winners of IRO at a seminar organised by Dhaka University and Channel i in first week of this month.

Channel i Director Shykh Seraj, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Prof Mohammad Kaykobad, Bangladesh IRO team leader and Dhaka University Robotics Department Chairperson Prof Lafifa Jamal and Bangladesh Robot Olympiad Coordinator Redwan Ferdous were also present on the occasion

IRO began with an objective to promote scientific abilities of teenagers, develop the talent of students interested in the field of robotics and increase the demands on private robots.

IRO’s goal is to provide the opportunity to communities to maintain amicable social relationships and to build leadership.
