British Council, Public Library inaugurate

The British Council’s Libraries Unlimited Programme and the Department of Public Libraries have formally inaugurated year-long Public Library Campaign- “Cholo Gronthagare Cholo, Dekhi Somvabonar alo” on Tuesday at the National Public Library in the city.

Ashish Kumar Sarker, the Director General of the Department of Public Libraries and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, was present as the chief guest in the programme while Barbara Wickham, Country Director of British Council Bangladesh and Abdullah Harun Pasha, Director of Department of Public Libraries and Joint Secretary of Ministry of Cultural Affairs, were present as the guest of honours.

AJM Abdullahel Baki, Director of Department of Public Libraries and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs presided over the event. Among others Kirsty Crawford, the Programme Director of British Council’s Libraries Unlimited Programme and other staff members of British Council were present.

Including Dhaka this campaign will be implemented in 25 districts- Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Munshiganj, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Tangail, Noakhali, Narayanganj, Comilla, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati, Bandarban, Barisal, Patuakhali, Rajshahi, Pabna, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Dinajpur, Borguna, Khulna, Jessore, Kustia and Sylhet.
