Huawei has contributed to the foundation of a digital society, Ren Zhengfei, the CEO and founder of Huawei has said this in a recent interview with BBC. Huawei now owns over 80,000 patents.
In the interview, Ren said, over the past three decades, Huawei has helped to bridge the digital divide by providing information services to three billion people in more than 170 countries and regions. With affordable ICT services, underprivileged kids living in remote regions can see how the world is from outside, and they can grow better to become the "backbone" of the society. To Ren, Huawei's role is to provide services that make the world a better place, said a press release.According to Ren’s data, in the US alone, Huawei has obtained more than 11,000 patents. Ren said, “These are our legitimate rights granted by the US law. Huawei offered many services to people around the world, and they are becoming more open. It has submitted more than 54,000 proposals to standards organizations. We consider these a contribution to humanity and this contribution deserves to be recognized”.
