A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed two Saudi Airlines crew on one-day remand in a case filed with Airport Police Station under the Special Powers Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain passed the order after sub-inspector Shafiqul Islam, also investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court seeking a ten-day remand.

The two accused — Sayma Akhter and Farjana Afrose — were detained from Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early Monday for carrying gold illegally.

SV-802 of Saudi Airlines carrying Sayma and Farjana landed at the airport around 2:00 am. Acting on a tip off, a team of customs officials and APBn searched the two accused when they were trying to pass the green channel at the airport.

After conducting the search, the officials found gold bars hidden inside the undergarments of Sayma and Farjana.
