244 distressed people get financial support in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: A total of 244 poor and distressed people including 16 patients suffering from various chronic diseases like kidney complaint, liver cirrhosis, heart ailment, cancer and paralysis caused by stroke received financial support worth Taka 10.01 lakh, reports BSS.

Deputy Director Office of Department of Social Services (DSS) and District administration jointly organised the cheque distribution programme in the conference hall of deputy commissioner (DC) here on Monday.

On the occasion, 228 students and affected persons got financial support for treatment and education from Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council (BNSWC).

Chaired by DSS Deputy Director Rashedul Kabir the programme was attended and addressed, among others, by DC SM Abdul Kader, Additional District Magistrate Zulkar Nayon, Director (Additional Charge) of DSS Divisional Office Hasina Momtaz and BNSWC Member Mozammen Haque.
