Two siblings killed in ‘gunfight’

COX’S BAZAR: Two suspected drug peddling brothers were killed in a ‘gunfight’ between two rival groups reportedly over share of drug at Ukhia upazila in the district on early Friday.

The deceased were identified as Mostak Mian, 35, and his younger brother Moktar Mian, 32, of Dhamankhali under Palangkhali.

Police said the two brothers had been involved with drug peddling for long.  

He said they heard from the locals that two groups of drug peddler exchanged bullets reportedly over share of drug in Rupbati area on Marine Drive Road around 4:30am.

On receiving information, a team of police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, he said adding that the bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
