CHATTOGRAM: The 9th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Pratidin was celebrated in the port city on Friday.

The daily organised a ceremony marking the anniversary at its Chattogram bureau office in the city’s Kazir Dewri area in the afternoon.

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor and city Awami League (AL) General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin was present as guest at the programme.

The daily Chattogram Bureau Chief Reaz Hyder Chowdhury presided over the programme while Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) President Mahbubul Alam, Chattogram Press Club President Ali Abbas, General Secretary Chowdhury Farid, Chattogram Union of Journalists’ (CUJ) General Secretary Hasan Ferdous, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Joint Secretary General Mohsin Kazi, Kaler Kantho Chattogram Bureau Chief Mustafa Nayeem, Daily Sun Bureau Chief Md Nur Uddin Alamgir, Chattogram District Bar Association former President Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhury, Junior Chamber founding President and Khulshi Club President Niaz Morshed Elite and Jamal Khan Ward Councillor Saibal Das Suman also attended it, among others.

Besides, different professional, social, cultural and political organisations greeted the daily with flowers on the day.

Addressing the ceremony, CCC Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said the leading broadsheet of the country has been playing pioneer role in development of the people and country.

“It could attain the top position for its pro-liberation stance and impartial journalism,” observed the mayor.

Putting up laudable roles of the daily for welfare of the county, Mayor Nasir hoped that it will keep its efforts continued for the sake of betterment of the country further.
