Kids Kidney Week opens at BSMMU

Around 7,000 children receive kidney treatment in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) annually.

This was disclosed at the inaugural function of Kids Kidney Week 2019 and Dialysis Workshop at Shahid Dr. Milon Hall of the university on Sunday ahead of the World Kidney Day, said a press release.

BSMMU Vice Chancellor Prof Kanak Kanti Barua was present at the event as the chief guest while pro-vice chancellor (administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Rafiqul Alam attended it as the special guest.

The World Kidney Day theme is "Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere".

Mentioning that only the BSMMU has being giving service of kidney transplantation to the children infected in chronic kidney disease since 2006, Golam Mainuddin said the hospital has already transplanted kidney of 11 children till the date and all of them are now staying well.
