Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day-2019 is being observed across the country in befitting manner paying rich tribute to the martyrs, reports BSS.

In Khulna: People of all walks of life on Thursday observed Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day-2019 in Khulna city peacefully.

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque pays tribute to the Language Movement heroes at one minute past midnight last night at Shaheed Minar of City’s Shaheed Hadis Park.

In Panchagarh: Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day is being observed in the district in befitting manner paying rich tribute to the martyrs.

Deputy commissioner of Panchagarh Sabina Yasmin opened the day programme by placing wreaths at central Shaheed Minar at zero hours. Police super Gias Uddin Ahamed and others high officials also placing wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.

In Rangpur: The ‘Shaheed Dibash and the International Mother Language Day- 2019′is being observed here on Thursday paying rich tribute to the Language Movement Martyrs with a call for ensuring use of Bengali at all levels.

Thousands of people of all ages are participating in various day-long programmes since the midnight to observe the day with a vow to establish the spirit of the War of Liberation and build a prosperous Bangladesh free from militancy and terrorism.

In Rajshahi: “Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day- 2019” is being observed in the city as elsewhere in the country on Thursday with due respect and in a befitting manner, paying rich tributes to martyrs of the historic Language Movement of 1952.

Various political parties and socio-cultural and volunteer organizations and educational institutions are observing the day with a renewed pledge for building a happy, prosperous and non-communal Bangladesh.

The city streets are decorated with miniature national flags and colored flags inscribed with Bengali alphabets.

City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton accompanied by his office colleagues and scores of Awami League leaders and workers placed wreaths at the altar of Bhuban Mohan Park Shaheed Minar and Rajshahi College Shaheed Minar at zero hours on Thursday.

Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman, DIG of Rajshahi Police Khurshid Hussain, RMP Commissioner Hafiz Akhter, Zila Parishad Chairman Muhammad Ali Sarker and Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader placed wreaths at Court Shaheed Minar.

The day’s programmes also include Quran Khwani and discussion at the Imam Training Academy, art and literary competitions for school and college students at Shishu Academy and Shilpakala Academy, serving improved diets to the inmates of hospitals, jails, safe homes and baby homes and screening of documentary films on the Language Movement.

Meanwhile, Rajshahi University (RU), Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Rajshahi Medical University, Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) and other educational institutions chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day.

Law enforcement agencies have adopted foolproof security measures facilitating a smooth observance of the day’s programmes.
