Jatiya Oikya Front steering committee held a meeting on Sunday and talked about the public hearing about ‘irregularities and vote robbery’ which is scheduled to be held on February 24.

The meeting was held at Gono Forum central office in Motijheel of the capital in the afternoon. Oikya Front convener Dr Kamal Hossain and its spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir were not present at the meeting.

The meeting also discussed current political situation and the opposition coalition’s next course of action, meeting sources said.

After the meeting, Oikya Front leader ASM Abdur Rob, also president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), said, “We will hold the public hearing about irregularities of December 30 polls. But we can’t book a venue for the programme.

“Owners of different halls are not receiving any money without police permission. Despite obstruction, we will hold the public hearing. If necessary, we will arrange the programme indoors,” Rob said.

BNP standing committee member Abdul Moyeen Khan, Krishak Sramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique, Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Gono Forum Executive President Subrata Chowdhury and General Secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu were also present at the meeting.

The leaders of the Oikya Front claimed that they earlier submitted applications to the offices of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, National Press Club and Mahanagar Natya Manch to get the venue to hold the public hearing.
