Education Minister Dipu Moni on Sunday said that some 2000 educational institutions will be brought under the Monthly Payment Order (MPO) system.
“Some 2000 educational institutions will be brought under the Monthly Payment Order system in phases. The ministry has already discussed the issue with the finance minister. The institutions will be brought under the system after getting the allocation,” Moni told parliament while responding to a supplementary question of Peer Fazlur Rahman from Sunamganj- 4 constituency.The day’s business began at about 4:45pm with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
The minister said some 9000 institutions filed petitions for the MPO-enlistment.
“Out of those institutions, some 2000 institutions have been scrutinised as eligible,” she said.
Responding to another question of Ashim Kumar Ukil from Netrakona-3 constituency, the education minister said the government would identify abandoned school buildings through a survey.
“After identifying the abandoned buildings, new buildings will be constructed in phases,” she said.
Responding to another question of treasury bench lawmaker Abdul Latif, the minister said incident of question paper leakage did not occur during the Secondary School Certificate examinations.“The ministry has taken all-out measures to address question paper leakage in public examinations. Mobile phones and other electronic devices have been banned in examination halls to check question paper leakage,” she said.
A directive has also been given to stop coaching centres for a month during the exams, said the minister.
