Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) will take part in the forthcoming Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU) election under the banner of Sommilito Sikhatri Parishad (Joint Students’ Council).

The alliance would be comprised of a total of 22 socio-cultural organisations of teachers and Students Center (TSC) of the university.

BCL came up with the announcement Thursday afternoon at Modhur Canteen, which is considered to be the breeding ground of the nation’s politics.  Leaders from different socio-cultural organisations including BCL spoke on the occasion.

The alliance spokesperson, SM Rakib Siraji, also the president of Dhaka University Debating Society, read out the written statement.

In his speech, Rakib said: “All students’ organisations of TSC will make a ‘grand alliance’ with pro-liberation forces to take part in the polls.”

Stressing the importance of DUCSU election, he said all socio-cultural organisations have been working as alternative institutions of DUCSU over the last 28 years to make DU a democratic entity, thus protecting the students’ rights.

The BCL leader also sought cooperation from all to hold the long-awaited DUCSU election in a fair and enthusiasm manner.
