A massive traffic chaos in capital Dhaka on Wednesday added unbearable misery to the revellers as well as commuters on the first day of spring or Pahel Falgun.

Vehicles were stranded almost in all major roads of the city with traffic police looking helpless. Those in public buses or in CNG autos also suffered from heat.

The chaos appeared to be the crowd on the streets and extra vehicles carrying people to the heart of the Spring festival —- the Dhaka University campus.

Those using UBER, Pathao or the likes the misery was doubled as they had to count extra cash for time on the roads.

The police were widely criticised for not planning traffic movement for this day as the celebration and massive crowd are not new for Dhaka. The excuse of lack of adequate manpower is unacceptable as planning ahead of any such events easily eases the situation.

According to a 2016 official statistic, there are more than 10,00,000 registered motor vehicles in Dhaka and it has definitely multiplied since then. Another statistic by a private group said in that year there were 4,000 vehicles operating illegally.
