Madrasa teacher held with 6,000 Yaba tablets in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: Police arrested a madrasa teacher with 6,000 Yaba tablets from the city’s Firingee Bazar area on Wednesday.

The arrestee was identified as Omar Faruk, 44, a teacher of Hafejia Nurani Madrasha of village Haridaspur under Dhamrai upazila in Dhaka district. Inspector (Investigation) Md Kamruzzaman of Kotwali Police Station said on information, they conducted a drive at a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of ‘Shyamoli Paribahan’ in the area.

Faruk, also the Imam of a mosque in the Haridaspur area, was arrested with 6,000 Yaba tablets during the drive, he said. During preliminary interrogation, the arrestee admitted that he collected the Yaba pills from one Sagor in Cox’s Bazar district for handing over to one Saikat in Dhaka, the police officer said.
