The Returning Officer (RO) has declared that candidature of 49 aspirants for women’s reserved seats in the 11th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) is valid.

If no-one withdraws their candidature, then we will announce the final list on February 17,” he said, adding that they did not take cognizance of minor mistakes during the scrutiny.
The deadline for submission of nomination papers was February 11 while that of withdrawal of nomination papers is February 16.
Earlier on Monday, 49 female candidates from the governing Awami League and opposition parties submitted their nomination papers to the Election Commission.
No candidate from opposition BNP submitted nomination papers, as they have decided to boycott parliament.
The RO said, “If BNP doesn’t not take an oath within 90 days of publication of parliamentary election gazette, then we will declare the constituencies vacant. Then election will be held in the seven constituencies.”
The election for the women’s reserved seats is slated for March 4.
