Missing auto-rickshaw driver found dead

CHATTOGRAM: Body of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver, who went missing on Thursday night, was recovered from a cropland at Lohagara upazila in the district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Md Abdul Monaf, 45, son of Fazlu Mian of Padua Dhalirbila area under the upazila. Sources said Monaf didn’t return to residence on Thursday night after keeping his vehicle at a garage.

Locals noticed the body lying on the ground at a cropland in Thakur Dighi area in the morning.

Sub Inspector (SI) Md Nur Nabi of Lohagara Police Station said on information, they rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for autopsy, he said adding that marks of injury by sharp weapons were found on the head.

Besides, the auto-rickshaw driver might have been strangled, he suspected.
